The company's acute care segment includes 29 inpatient acute care hospitals in the U.S., 35 free-standing emergency departments, and 13 outpatient centers plus one surgical hospital. The behavioral health care division operates 346 inpatient facilities and 119 outpatient facilities, with significant international presence including 161 inpatient behavioral health facilities in the United Kingdom and 3 inpatient facilities in Puerto Rico.

UHS generates approximately 57 percent of consolidated net revenues from acute care hospitals, outpatient facilities, and commercial health insurers, while behavioral health care facilities and commercial health insurers account for approximately 43 percent of revenues. The company's U.K. behavioral health operations generated approximately $1.001 billion in revenues during 2025, representing meaningful international diversification.

The company employs approximately 101,500 total employees, consisting of roughly 88,100 employees in the U.S. and 13,400 in the U.K. Within the acute care division, approximately 460 physicians are employed directly or through affiliated group practices, while the behavioral health division employs approximately 445 physicians through similar arrangements.
