These refineries process crude oil and other feedstocks into gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and other refined products distributed through wholesale rack channels and bulk sales to petroleum companies, traders, and end users including airlines, railroads, and utilities. The company maintains an extensive marketing network with approximately 7,000 branded outlets operating under the Valero, Beacon, Diamond Shamrock, Shamrock, Ultramar, and Texaco brand names across North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Mexico.
The Renewable Diesel segment operates through Diamond Green Diesel Holdings LLC, a consolidated joint venture with Darling Ingredients Inc., which owns two renewable diesel plants located adjacent to the company's St. Charles and Port Arthur refineries in Louisiana and Texas. These plants produce renewable diesel, renewable naphtha, and sustainable aviation fuel from waste and renewable feedstocks with a combined production capacity of approximately 1.2 billion gallons annually. The Ethanol segment comprises 12 dry mill ethanol plants located in the Mid-Continent region of the United States with combined production capacity of approximately 1.7 billion gallons per year, along with co-product operations producing distillers grains and corn oil.
As of December 31, 2025, the company employed 9,811 people across its global operations, with the majority based in the United States. The company has invested $6.0 billion in its low-carbon fuels businesses and positions itself as the leading producer of low-carbon transportation fuels, supporting governments' greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets through compliance with renewable fuel standards and low-carbon fuel programs in multiple jurisdictions.
