(NYSE: HIG) is a holding company headquartered in Connecticut that provides property and casualty insurance, employee group benefits insurance and services, and mutual funds and exchange-traded funds to individual and business customers throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, and other international locations. The company traces its heritage to Hartford Fire Insurance Company, founded in 1810, and operates under the widely recognized Hartford Stag logo. As of December 31, 2025, The Hartford maintains total assets of $86.0 billion and stockholders' equity of $19.0 billion.

The company operates through five primary reportable segments plus a corporate category. Business Insurance, generating $13.9 billion in earned premiums, serves small businesses, middle market and large national accounts, and global specialty clients with workers' compensation, general liability, commercial property, marine, professional liability, bonds, commercial automobile, and assumed reinsurance products distributed through retail agents, brokers, and direct channels. Personal Insurance, with $3.7 billion in earned premiums, focuses on automobile and homeowners coverage for individuals, primarily through an exclusive licensing arrangement with AARP that extends through 2032 and represents a significant competitive advantage serving the over-50 demographic. Employee Benefits generates $6.6 billion in premiums and other considerations through group life, disability, and other group coverages offered to employer groups and associations. Hartford Funds manages $154.2 billion in assets under management, including approximately 60 actively managed mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, and third-party life and annuity separate accounts. Property & Casualty Other Operations manages discontinued operations and run-off asbestos and environmental exposures.

The Hartford's strategic priorities emphasize underwriting excellence, risk management, claims expertise, and product development. The company leverages advanced analytics, artificial intelligence capabilities, and digital platforms to enhance underwriting, pricing, and customer experience across all segments.
