Printing is organized into Commercial Printing, Consumer Printing, and Supplies business units, with supplies representing a highly profitable recurring revenue stream.

HP's competitive advantages include its broad product portfolio, innovation capabilities, strong brand recognition, extensive research and development resources, comprehensive security features, and multi-channel distribution strategy spanning retail, commercial channels, and direct sales. The company utilizes outsourced manufacturers globally to produce HP-designed products, employing both build-to-order and configure-to-order fulfillment methods. HP maintains a worldwide patent portfolio exceeding 16,000 patents and develops intellectual property across its product and service offerings.
