The business

Cabot Corporation (NASDAQ: CBT) is a global specialty chemicals and performance materials company headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts with operations spanning more than 20 countries worldwide. The company's website is www.cabotcorp.com. Founded in 1882 and incorporated in Delaware in 1960, Cabot manufactures and sells reinforcing and specialty carbons, specialty compounds, conductive additives, carbon nanotubes, fumed metal oxides, inkjet colorants, and aerogel products.

The company operates through two reportable segments: Reinforcement Materials and Performance Chemicals. The Reinforcement Materials segment produces reinforcing carbons used primarily in tires and industrial products such as hoses, belts, and molded goods, as well as engineered elastomer composites that improve abrasion resistance and reduce rolling resistance. The Performance Chemicals segment encompasses specialty carbons for plastics, inks, and coatings; specialty compounds for automotive and industrial applications; battery materials including conductive additives and fumed alumina for lithium-ion batteries; fumed silica and fumed alumina for various industrial uses; aerogel for thermal insulation; and inkjet colorants and inks for printing applications.

Cabot's core competencies center on making and handling very fine particles, modifying particle surfaces to alter functionality, designing particles for specific properties, and combining particles with other ingredients to create formulated intermediates. The company's manufacturing footprint includes plants in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, the Czech Republic, France, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, and the United States, among other locations. As of September 30, 2025, Cabot employed approximately 4,100 people globally, with 40 percent in the Americas, 33 percent in Asia Pacific, and 27 percent in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The company's growth strategy, introduced in fiscal 2022 as "Creating for Tomorrow," focuses on investing for advantaged growth, developing innovative products and processes, and driving continuous improvement. Key growth areas include conductive additives for battery applications, engineered elastomer composites, and inkjet dispersions for industrial printing. Cabot competes on product performance, quality, reliability, technical innovation, sustainability performance, and customer service, leveraging its technological leadership and global manufacturing presence as competitive advantages.
