The business

Newmont Corporation (NYSE: NEM) operates as the world's leading gold producer with significant operations across multiple continents including the United States, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Ghana, Suriname, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, and Canada. The company maintains its corporate headquarters and can be found at www.newmont.com.

The company's primary business involves the extraction and production of gold, with gold representing approximately 85 percent of total sales. Beyond gold, Newmont produces copper, silver, lead, and zinc as co-products and by-products across its mining operations. The company operates 13 reportable segments consisting of 12 mining operations it directly manages and a 38.5 percent proportionate interest in Nevada Gold Mines, which it does not directly manage. Notable operating properties include Lihir in Papua New Guinea, Cadia and Boddington in Australia, Ahafo South and Ahafo North in Ghana, Merian in Suriname, Cerro Negro in Argentina, Yanacocha in Peru, Peñasquito in Mexico, Red Chris and Brucejack in Canada, and Tanami in Australia.

At December 31, 2025, Newmont employed approximately 17,500 people directly, with an additional 26,600 contractors supporting operations. The company maintains an aggregate land position of approximately 19,200 square miles and holds attributable proven and probable gold reserves of 118.2 million ounces along with substantial measured and indicated resources.

For the year ended December 31, 2025, the company generated sales of $22.7 billion, with gold sales representing $19.3 billion. The company recently completed a portfolio optimization program involving the divestiture of six non-core assets and a development project, including the sales of Telfer, CC&V, Musselwhite, Éléonore, Porcupine, Akyem, and the Coffee development project. In October 2025, Newmont declared commercial production at its Ahafo North project in Ghana.

The company's competitive position derives from the size and grade of its ore bodies located in favorable mining jurisdictions, combined with its ability to manage costs relative to other producers. Newmont maintains a diverse portfolio of mining operations with varying ore grades and cost structures, supported by ongoing capital investment in equipment, facilities, and development projects including Tanami Expansion 2 and Cadia Panel Caves.

Fund ownership counts N-PORT filers only, so it is a floor rather than a census — pensions, insurers and direct holders are not visible here, and the remainder is not “held by individuals”.

Fund ownership is a subset of institutional 13F ownership — the two describe overlapping populations and must not be added together.
