Principal Financial Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: PFG) is a global financial services leader offering retirement solutions, asset management, and workplace benefits and protection products to businesses, individuals, and institutional clients worldwide. The company operates through three primary reportable segments: Retirement and Income Solutions, Principal Asset Management, and Benefits and Protection, supported by a Corporate segment managing unallocated capital.

As of December 31, 2025, Principal Financial Group administers $1,814.6 billion in assets under administration, including $781.0 billion in assets under management. The Retirement and Income Solutions segment provides comprehensive retirement savings products and services including defined contribution plans, defined benefit plans, nonqualified executive benefit plans, individual annuities, registered index-linked annuities, pension risk transfer services, and trust and custody services through Principal Bank and Principal Trust Company. This segment serves over 42,000 defined contribution plans covering approximately 11.3 million eligible plan participants and over 1,600 defined benefit plans covering more than 371,000 participants.

The Principal Asset Management segment manages $593.9 billion in assets through global investment teams providing equity, fixed income, asset allocation, real estate, and alternative investment solutions to institutional, retirement, retail, and high net worth investors. The segment operates through local investment teams in Chile, Mexico, China, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, and Latin America, with international pension operations focused on accumulation and income annuity products in emerging markets.

The Benefits and Protection segment, with roots dating to 1879, serves approximately 103,000 employer groups providing 321,000 total coverages to more than 3.3 million employees. This segment includes specialty benefits such as group dental, life, disability insurance, supplemental health coverage, and individual disability insurance, as well as life insurance solutions primarily targeting small and medium-sized businesses. The company maintains strong financial strength ratings from major rating agencies including A+ from A.M. Best and AA− from Fitch Ratings.
