Tyson operates a diversified portfolio across four reportable business segments: Beef, Pork, Chicken, and Prepared Foods. The Beef segment processes live fed cattle and fabricates dressed beef carcasses into primal, sub-primal, and case-ready products. The Pork segment handles live market hog processing and fabrication into various cuts and case-ready offerings. The Chicken segment manages fully vertically-integrated operations from breeding stock through processing, including value-added products like breaded strips and nuggets. The Prepared Foods segment manufactures frozen and refrigerated products under iconic brands including Tyson, Jimmy Dean, Hillshire Farm, Ball Park, Wright, State Fair, Aidells, and Gallo Salame.

The company operates a fully vertically-integrated chicken production process and maintains Cobb-Vantress, a leading global poultry breeding stock supplier. Tyson's operations extend across approximately 140 countries and regions, with significant international presence in Canada, Central America, China, the European Union, Mexico, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. The company sold products internationally totaling $7.4 billion in fiscal 2025, with $4.8 billion representing export sales from United States facilities.

Tyson's competitive advantages include its national distribution system, vertically-integrated operations particularly in chicken, iconic brand portfolio, research and development capabilities including its Discovery Center in Springdale, Arkansas, and established relationships with major retailers and foodservice operators. The company serves grocery retailers, foodservice distributors, restaurant operators, warehouse clubs, military commissaries, and industrial food processors. Walmart represents a significant customer relationship, accounting for approximately a material percentage of consolidated sales across all segments.

The company maintains substantial operational infrastructure including processing facilities, feed mills, hatcheries, warehouses, and transportation systems. Tyson also operates Tyson New Ventures, LLC, a subsidiary focused on investing in breakthrough technologies and innovative protein sources to complement core business operations.
