UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE: UHG) operates as a diversified health care and well-being company with a mission to help people live healthier lives and improve the health system for everyone. The company maintains its corporate presence at www.unitedhealthgroup.com and operates two distinct yet complementary business divisions: Optum and UnitedHealthcare.

Optum functions as an information and technology-enabled health services business serving the broad health care marketplace. The division comprises three reportable segments: Optum Health, which delivers patient-centered care and health financial services to 95 million consumers; Optum Insight, which provides data analytics, research, consulting and technology solutions with a backlog of approximately $31.1 billion; and Optum Rx, which manages $188 billion in pharmaceutical spending through a network of approximately 64,000 retail pharmacies and specialty services. Optum Financial, including Optum Bank, manages nearly 26 million consumer accounts with over $27 billion in assets under management.

UnitedHealthcare offers comprehensive health benefits across three segments: Employer & Individual, serving 29.7 million people through employer-sponsored and individual plans; Medicare & Retirement, serving 8.4 million Medicare Advantage members and 10.4 million Medicare Part D enrollees; and Community & State, serving nearly 7.4 million people across Medicaid and state programs in 32 states and the District of Columbia.

Premium revenues from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services represent 44 percent of consolidated revenues, primarily generated by UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement. Risk-based products constitute nearly 80 percent of total consolidated revenues. The company employs more than 390,000 people, including nearly 165,000 clinical professionals.

UnitedHealth Group competes on quality, value, product innovation, technology deployment, consumer and provider engagement, and pricing across highly competitive health care markets. The company holds trademark registrations for UnitedHealth Group, Optum, and UnitedHealthcare names and logos, along with a portfolio of patents. The business model leverages distinctive capabilities in value-based care, population health, data analytics, pharmacy services and health care operations to serve patients, employers, providers, payers and government entities.
