Ticker: LEUMaterialsMiningThe business
Centrus Energy Corp. (NYSE: LEU) is a trusted supplier of nuclear fuel components and enrichment services for the nuclear power industry. The company operates through two primary business segments: Low Enriched Uranium (LEU) and Technical Solutions. The LEU segment, which accounts for approximately 77% of total revenue, supplies various components of nuclear fuel to commercial customers from a global network of suppliers, primarily serving utilities that operate commercial nuclear power plants. The Technical Solutions segment provides advanced uranium enrichment for the nuclear industry and the U.S. government, along with advanced manufacturing, engineering, and technical services to government and private sector customers.
Centrus is pioneering U.S. production of High Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU), a high-performance nuclear fuel component required by advanced reactor designs currently under development. The company began enrichment operations at its HALEU production facility in Piketon, Ohio in October 2023 and made its first delivery of HALEU to the Department of Energy in November 2023. The company operates production facilities in Piketon, Ohio and maintains a Technology and Manufacturing Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where it manufactures advanced uranium enrichment centrifuges.
The company's backlog extends to 2040 and totals approximately $3.8 billion as of December 31, 2025, with approximately $2.3 billion representing contingent LEU sales contracts and commitments supporting potential construction of LEU production capacity. Centrus maintains supply agreements with major enrichment producers including TENEX and Orano, securing cost-competitive supplies of separative work units through the end of the decade.
In January 2026, the Department of Energy announced that Centrus was selected for a $900 million task order to expand its uranium enrichment facility in Piketon to include commercial-scale HALEU production. The company also announced plans for major expansion of uranium enrichment capacity in Piketon for both LEU and HALEU production and plans to invest more than $560 million to transition its Oak Ridge facility into a high-rate manufacturing plant for advanced centrifuges.
