The business

The Mosaic Company (NYSE: MOS) is the world's leading producer and marketer of concentrated phosphate and potash crop nutrients. Operating through three reportable business segments—Phosphate, Potash, and Mosaic Fertilizantes—the company serves customers in approximately 40 countries and operates across the top four nutrient-consuming nations: China, India, the United States, and Brazil.

The Phosphate segment accounts for approximately 72 percent of North American concentrated phosphate production and operates mines and processing facilities in Florida, Louisiana, Brazil, and Peru. The segment produces diammonium phosphate, monoammonium phosphate, and the proprietary MicroEssentials® product line, along with animal feed ingredients marketed under the Biofos® and Nexfos® brands. The Potash segment represents one of the world's leading potash producers, operating three mines in Canada and one in New Mexico, accounting for approximately 34 percent of North American potash production. The Mosaic Fertilizantes segment operates in Brazil with five phosphate mines and four chemical plants, producing and distributing phosphate- and potash-based crop nutrients and animal feed ingredients, commanding approximately 73 percent of Brazilian concentrated phosphate production.

Mosaic was incorporated in Delaware in March 2004 as the parent company of the business formed through the October 2004 combination of IMC Global Inc. and the fertilizer businesses of Cargill, Incorporated. The company accounts for approximately 10 percent of global annual phosphate production and 12 percent of global annual potash production. Beyond its core crop nutrient business, Mosaic operates distribution networks in China and India and maintains the Mosaic Biosciences platform, which develops biological fertilizer complements to improve nutrient use efficiency.

The company's competitive advantages derive from its vertically integrated operations, extensive production and distribution infrastructure, scale efficiencies, and strategic positioning in key agricultural markets. Mosaic owns significant land holdings in Florida exceeding 368,000 acres, providing access to phosphate rock reserves and future development opportunities. The company's global presence, combined with its proprietary products and established distribution network, positions it to serve diverse customer segments from large-scale agricultural operations to independent retailers and farmers worldwide.
