The company organizes its business through four primary segments: Production & Precision Agriculture, Small Agriculture & Turf, Construction & Forestry, and Financial Services. In fiscal year 2025, Production & Precision Agriculture generated 45 percent of equipment operations net sales, Small Agriculture & Turf contributed 26 percent, and Construction & Forestry accounted for 29 percent. The Production & Precision Agriculture segment manufactures large-scale tractors, harvesters, cotton pickers, sugarcane equipment, and precision agricultural technology solutions. Small Agriculture & Turf produces specialty and compact tractors, hay and forage equipment, riding lawn equipment, golf course equipment, and utility vehicles sold through independent retailers and mass merchants including The Home Depot and Lowe's. Construction & Forestry offers excavators, motor graders, wheel loaders, backhoes, articulated dump trucks, and roadbuilding equipment under the Wirtgen brand, alongside forestry products including skidders, feller bunchers, and forwarders.

The Financial Services segment provides retail financing, wholesale financing, leasing, and extended warranty services across multiple geographies, with operations in the United States, Canada, Argentina, Australia, India, Mexico, New Zealand, and various other countries. John Deere maintains a robust dealer network of approximately 2,050 independent locations in the United States and Canada, with additional distribution through company-owned subsidiaries and independent dealers in over 100 countries worldwide.

The company's competitive positioning rests on brand recognition, product innovation, technology integration including precision agriculture and autonomy solutions, manufacturing excellence, and an extensive dealer support network. John Deere operates centralized parts distribution warehouses in the United States, Brazil, and Germany, coordinated with regional distribution centers globally to support customer service and parts availability.
