The Home Depot serves two primary customer groups: consumers, including do-it-yourself and do-it-for-me customers, and professional customers, including contractors, builders, roofers, landscapers, and specialty tradespeople. A typical store stocks approximately 30,000 to 40,000 items across departments including appliances, bath, building materials, electrical, flooring, hardware, kitchen, lighting, lumber, paint, plumbing, and storage. The company offers proprietary brands such as HDX, Husky, Hampton Bay, Home Decorators Collection, Glacier Bay, Vigoro, Everbilt, and Lifeproof, alongside national brand products.
Beyond retail sales, the company provides installation services for flooring, water heaters, cabinets, windows, and other categories, as well as tool and equipment rental services. Digital capabilities include mobile applications and e-commerce websites serving customers in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with specialized platforms including hdsupply.com, blinds.com, and srsdistribution.com.
At the end of fiscal 2025, the company employed approximately 472,400 associates, with 89.4 percent located in the United States, 6.7 percent in Canada, and 3.8 percent in Mexico. The company maintains a global sourcing program with offices in Mexico, Canada, India, Vietnam, Taiwan, China, and Europe to obtain innovative products from manufacturers worldwide.
