The Recycling Processing and Sales segment positions the company as North America's leading recycler of post-consumer materials including paper, cardboard, glass, plastic and metal. As of December 31, 2025, the company operated 113 recycling facilities, of which 51 use single-stream technology, and 49 organics recycling facilities. The Renewable Energy segment develops and operates landfill gas-to-energy projects, with 103 beneficial use projects producing renewable electricity and renewable natural gas that fuel the company's natural gas fleet.
The Healthcare Solutions segment, acquired through Stericycle, provides regulated waste and compliance services and secure information destruction services across the U.S., Canada and Western Europe. The company operated 42 autoclave facilities, 9 alternative medical waste treatment facilities, 17 incinerator facilities and 99 secure information destruction facilities as of year-end 2025.
Waste Management employed approximately 60,500 full-time employees as of December 31, 2025, with roughly 53,600 in the U.S. and 6,900 outside the U.S. The company's brand promise is "ALWAYS WORKING FOR A SUSTAINABLE TOMORROW," reflecting its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable solutions embedded throughout operations.
