Verisk Analytics, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRSK) is a leading data, analytics, and technology provider serving the global insurance ecosystem. The company traces its origins to 1971 when Insurance Services Office, Inc. was founded as a not-for-profit advisory and rating organization for the U.S. property and casualty insurance industry. Verisk went public in October 2009 and has since evolved into a comprehensive insurance technology and data analytics platform.
The company operates through a single Insurance segment that serves property and casualty insurers, life insurance companies, reinsurers, brokers, and government agencies across the United States and internationally. Verisk's core offerings span the entire insurance lifecycle, including underwriting solutions, forms and rules development, loss cost analysis, underwriting data and analytics, catastrophe and risk modeling, claims solutions, anti-fraud detection, and casualty solutions. The company also provides life insurance solutions through its FAST platform and specialty business solutions serving the London insurance market.
Verisk maintains one of the world's largest private databases, processing approximately 3.6 billion detailed insurance transaction records annually and maintaining an underwriting database exceeding 38.9 billion statistical records. The company serves all of the top 100 property and casualty insurance providers in the U.S. for its lines of business.
The company's business model emphasizes subscription-based and long-term agreements, which represented over 80 percent of revenues in 2025. Verisk's competitive advantages include proprietary data assets, deep insurance industry expertise spanning more than five decades, long-standing industry relationships, and scale enabling broad distribution of innovations. The company maintains significant intellectual property protections including copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and patents. In February 2023, Verisk completed the sale of its Energy business, and in December 2025, it sold its Marketing Solutions business to focus on core insurance operations. Fund ownership counts N-PORT filers only, so it is a floor rather than a census — pensions, insurers and direct holders are not visible here, and the remainder is not “held by individuals”.
Fund ownership is a subset of institutional 13F ownership — the two describe overlapping populations and must not be added together.
