The company organizes its operations into two primary lines of business: Investment Servicing and Investment Management. The Investment Servicing division provides a comprehensive range of back-, middle-, and front-office solutions including custody, accounting, and fund administration services for traditional and alternative assets. This segment offers transaction management, loans, cash, derivatives and collateral services, securities finance, prime services products, and deposit facilities. State Street Investment Services and State Street Markets form the foundation of the company's State Street Alpha platform, which combines portfolio management, trading and execution, analytics, and compliance tools. The platform integrates Charles River Investment Management Solution for front-office technology and Charles River Wealth Management Solution for wealth managers and private banks. The Investment Management division, operating through State Street Investment Management, delivers investment solutions spanning equity, fixed income, liquidity, multi-asset, and alternatives strategies through ETFs, custom indexed, and actively managed funds.

As of December 31, 2025, State Street reported $53.80 trillion in assets under custody and administration and $5.67 trillion in assets under management. The company maintained consolidated total assets of $366.05 billion, consolidated total deposits of $274.35 billion, and consolidated total shareholders' equity of $27.84 billion. The organization employed approximately 52,000 people, with roughly 77 percent located outside the United States. State Street serves a diverse institutional client base including asset managers, insurance companies, wealth managers, official institutions, and central banks. The company traces its banking heritage to 1792 through its oldest ancestor bank, Union Bank, and operates as a specialized trust and custody bank serving institutional investors globally.
