The company operates through two primary business segments: Acuity Brands Lighting (ABL) and Acuity Intelligent Spaces (AIS). ABL designs, manufactures, and markets sustainable and intelligent lighting solutions combining luminaires with advanced electronics, including drivers and controls platforms. The segment serves new construction, renovation and retrofit, and maintenance and repair applications across North America and select international markets through independent sales agencies, internal sales representatives, electrical distributors, consumer retailers, and direct corporate accounts. ABL's portfolio encompasses numerous brands including Lithonia Lighting, Juno, Gotham, nLight, eldoLED, and SensorSwitch.

AIS focuses on making spaces smarter, safer, and greener through building management systems and data platforms. The segment operates through three primary brands: Atrius, which provides data accessibility and cloud applications for building performance; Distech Controls, which offers intelligent building management systems for HVAC, refrigeration, lighting, and access control; and QSC, which delivers an integrated audio, video, and control platform. AIS serves retail stores, airports, universities, enterprise campuses, sports venues, and hospitality sectors across North America, Europe, and select international locations, primarily through system integrators.

Acuity Inc. employed approximately 13,800 people as of August 31, 2025, with roughly 4,300 in the United States and 8,200 in Mexico, with remaining employees in Europe, Canada, and the Asia-Pacific region. The company operates eighteen manufacturing facilities, including seven in Mexico, six in the United States, three in Canada, and two in Europe, along with nine distribution facilities. Approximately 76 percent of finished goods are manufactured internally, with 24 percent purchased. Net sales initiated outside the United States represented approximately 14 percent of total net sales during fiscal 2025. The company maintains approximately 1,700 total patent assets and invests substantially in research and development to drive product innovation and competitive differentiation.
