Beyond inpatient facilities, HCA operates freestanding emergency care facilities, urgent care facilities, walk-in clinics, physician practices, diagnostic centers, home health agencies, hospices, and rehabilitation facilities.

The company's revenue streams are diversified across multiple payer sources. For the fiscal year ended December 31, 2025, total revenues reached $75.6 billion, with managed care and other insurers representing the largest segment at 48.9 percent of revenues. Managed Medicare contributed 17.8 percent, Medicare 14.9 percent, Medicaid 7.8 percent, managed Medicaid 4.9 percent, and international operations 2.5 percent, with other sources comprising 3.2 percent.

HCA Healthcare's general acute care hospitals provide a full range of medical and surgical services including internal medicine, general surgery, cardiology, oncology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, obstetrics, diagnostic services, and emergency care. The behavioral hospitals deliver comprehensive mental health services through inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient settings. Outpatient services represent an integral component of the company's strategy to develop comprehensive health care networks in select communities.

The company traces its operational history through predecessors commencing in 1968, with HCA Healthcare, Inc. incorporated in Delaware in October 2010. Certain affiliates provide management services including patient safety programs, ethics and compliance programs, supply chain management, financial and clinical systems, information technology solutions, and human resources services across the enterprise.
