Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE: LMT) is a global aerospace and defense technology company that designs, develops, manufactures, and sustains advanced military aircraft, missiles, rotary-wing systems, space vehicles, and related defense technologies. The company serves as a primary supplier to the U.S. Government and international allies, with approximately 72 percent of consolidated sales derived from U.S. Government contracts in 2025, including 63 percent from the Department of Defense. The company operates through four primary business segments. Aeronautics designs and produces advanced military aircraft including the F-35 Lightning II, which represents 27 percent of total consolidated sales and 67 percent of Aeronautics segment sales, along with the C-130 Hercules, F-16 Fighting Falcon, and F-22 Raptor. Missiles and Fire Control develops air and missile defense systems, tactical missiles, precision strike weapons, and fire control systems including PAC-3, THAAD, MLRS, PrSM, JASSM, and LRASM platforms. Rotary and Mission Systems manufactures military and commercial helicopters, sea and land-based missile defense systems, radar and laser systems, command and control solutions, and surface ships including Sikorsky Black Hawk and Seahawk helicopters and Aegis Combat Systems. Space develops satellites, space transportation systems, strategic and defensive systems, and provides network-enabled situational awareness, including programs such as Trident II D5 Fleet Ballistic Missiles, Next Generation OPIR, and Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle.

As of December 31, 2025, Lockheed Martin employed approximately 123,000 highly skilled workers, including roughly 72,000 engineers, scientists, and information technology professionals. Approximately 93 percent of the workforce is located in the United States, and approximately 19 percent of employees are covered by collective bargaining agreements. The company maintains a substantial intellectual property portfolio including numerous U.S. and foreign patents and trademarks, along with proprietary trade secrets and research and development know-how. The company competes with Boeing, General Dynamics, L3Harris Technologies, Northrop Grumman, and RTX Corporation, among others, in a highly competitive defense and aerospace industry characterized by long operating cycles and intense competition.
