The business

The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV) is one of the oldest insurance organizations in the United States, tracing its origins to 1853. The company operates as a holding company engaged primarily through its subsidiaries in providing a comprehensive range of commercial and personal property and casualty insurance products and services to businesses, government units, associations, and individuals across the United States and internationally.

Travelers operates through three principal reportable segments. Business Insurance, representing 55.3 percent of net written premiums, serves small to large enterprises through domestic operations including Select Accounts, Middle Market, National Accounts, and National Property and Other divisions, as well as international operations in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, and other markets including Lloyd's of London. Personal Insurance contributes 42.6 percent of premiums and offers automobile and homeowners coverage complemented by related products such as boat, umbrella liability, and specialty coverage. Bond & Specialty Insurance accounts for 10.4 percent of premiums and provides surety, fidelity, management liability, professional liability, and other specialized coverages.

The company maintains approximately 12,300 claims management employees operating through 15 claim centers and 57 satellite offices across 42 states, supported by field offices and customer service centers. Travelers distributes products through thousands of independent agents and brokers, direct-to-consumer channels, affinity partnerships, and carrier partnerships. The company serves approximately 8.4 million active personal insurance policies in the United States as of year-end 2025.

Travelers' competitive positioning rests on disciplined underwriting emphasizing profitable growth over volume, extensive proprietary data accumulated over decades, specialized industry expertise, comprehensive product offerings, strong agent and broker relationships, and perceived financial strength. The company employs sophisticated pricing methodologies, catastrophe modeling, and reinsurance strategies to manage exposures. In January 2026, Travelers completed the sale of its Canadian personal insurance business and majority of its Canadian commercial insurance business to Definity Financial Corporation for approximately $2.4 billion, retaining its Canadian surety operations. The company maintains a website at www.travelers.com.

Fund ownership counts N-PORT filers only, so it is a floor rather than a census — pensions, insurers and direct holders are not visible here, and the remainder is not “held by individuals”.

Fund ownership is a subset of institutional 13F ownership — the two describe overlapping populations and must not be added together.
