John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. (NASDAQ: JBSS) operates as one of the leading processors and distributors of nuts and nut-related products in the United States. The company's website is located at http://www.jbssinc.com.
The company processes and distributes a comprehensive portfolio of tree nuts and peanuts, including almonds, pecans, peanuts, walnuts, cashews, macadamia nuts, pistachios, pine nuts and filberts. Beyond its core nut business, Sanfilippo manufactures and distributes snack and nutrition bars, peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, candy and confections, snack and trail mixes, granola, sunflower kernels, dried fruit, corn snacks, sesame sticks and other food and snack products. Nut and bar products account for approximately 93 percent of gross sales.
The company markets products under several owned brand names including Fisher, Orchard Valley Harvest, Squirrel Brand and Southern Style Nuts, as well as under private brand names for retail customers. Products are sold through three primary distribution channels: food retailers in the consumer channel, commercial ingredient users, and contract manufacturing customers. The consumer channel represents the largest sales channel and supplies products to supermarket chains, wholesalers, supercenters, internet retailers and other retail outlets.
Sanfilippo operates a generally vertically integrated business model for pecans, peanuts and walnuts, controlling procurement from growers through shelling, processing, packaging and marketing. This integration provides cost advantages and supply chain visibility compared to competitors who purchase nuts on the open market. The company maintains significant manufacturing and processing facilities, including a warehouse and distribution center in Huntley, Illinois and a retail store at its Elgin headquarters.
As of June 25, 2026, the company employed approximately 1,770 full-time employees. The company sells products to approximately 200 customers, though it maintains significant customer concentration with Walmart Inc. accounting for approximately 41 percent of net sales and Target Corporation accounting for approximately 12 percent of net sales during fiscal 2026.
