The business

Moderna, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRNA) is a pioneer and leader in mRNA medicine, operating through a diversified pipeline spanning infectious disease vaccines, oncology therapeutics, and rare disease therapeutics. The company's mission centers on delivering the greatest possible impact to people through mRNA medicines by reimagining how medicines are made to transform disease treatment and prevention.

The company currently markets three commercial products: Spikevax and mNEXSPIKE, its COVID-19 vaccines, and mRESVIA, its respiratory syncytial virus vaccine for older adults and high-risk individuals. In 2025, Moderna achieved total revenue of $1.9 billion, primarily from COVID vaccine sales. mNEXSPIKE, launched commercially in the third quarter of 2025, has become the leading product in the U.S. retail channel.

Moderna's platform technology integrates three key components: mRNA science advancements, delivery mechanisms utilizing lipid nanoparticles, and proprietary manufacturing processes. The company views mRNA as the "software of life," enabling cells to produce specific therapeutic proteins or vaccine antigens. This approach offers inherent advantages including broad applicability across diseases, mimicry of human biology, simple chemical structure enabling rapid design modifications, and classic pharmacologic features with adjustable dosing.

Beyond commercial products, Moderna maintains a robust development pipeline of 35 therapeutic and vaccine programs, with six in late-stage development. Notable programs include intismeran autogene, an individualized neoantigen therapy in collaboration with Merck showing sustained improvement in recurrence-free survival for melanoma patients, and multiple infectious disease candidates including seasonal flu and norovirus vaccines. In rare disease, the company is advancing propionic acidemia and methylmalonic acidemia therapeutics, recently establishing a strategic collaboration with Recordati for mRNA-3927 development and commercialization.

The company operates a global manufacturing network established since 2022, including purpose-built facilities in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. Moderna's Marlborough, Massachusetts facility was specifically designed for intismeran production and began clinical batch supply in September 2025. The company maintains a global team focused on advancing mRNA technology across multiple disease areas and geographic markets. More information is available at www.modernatx.com.
