M&T Bank offers a broad range of financial products including consumer and commercial lending, deposit services, and fiduciary services. Specialized subsidiaries provide additional services including M&T Realty Capital, which engages in multifamily commercial real estate lending and loan servicing; LEAF Commercial Capital Inc. and M&T Equipment Finance Corp., which provide equipment leasing and financing; and M&T Securities, Inc., which offers institutional brokerage and securities services.

M&T's business model focuses on serving consumers, small and medium-sized businesses, professional clients, governmental entities, and financial institutions within its geographic footprint, though lending also extends to other states. The company maintains a diversified revenue base with interest income from loans and investment securities representing significant portions of consolidated revenues, supplemented by trust and wealth management fees, brokerage services, and other financial services income.
