Strategy · summarised

The fund invests in a mix of Fidelity U.S. equity, international equity, bond, and short-term funds, with the asset allocation shifting progressively toward a more conservative mix as it approaches and passes its 2020 target retirement date, eventually matching the allocation of the Fidelity Freedom Retirement Fund roughly 15 to 20 years later. The adviser actively adjusts exposures relative to these neutral allocations by up to 10% across major asset classes and may allocate up to 25% in aggregate to other debt and emerging markets strategies. Because the fund's returns depend on the performance of the underlying Fidelity funds it holds, divergence from the neutral glide path allocations will cause results to differ from the target-date strategy.

The outer band is exposure held short — written against the portfolio rather than part of it, which is why it sits outside the ring and why the two are never netted into one figure.
