The fund invests in a combination of Fidelity index funds tracking U.S. equities, international equities, bonds, and short-term instruments, with asset allocations that shift over time according to a glide path, becoming more conservative as the target retirement date of 2060 approaches and continuing to adjust for approximately 15 to 20 years thereafter until matching the allocation of the Fidelity Freedom Index Retirement Fund. The adviser may also use futures contracts to manage cash flows and maintain full investment. Because the fund's asset allocation changes according to a predetermined glide path rather than active management, the fund's performance will track the underlying index funds' results as modified by that shifting allocation schedule.
