The company operates under two primary trade names: Advance Auto Parts, which includes 4,066 locations focused on both professional and DIY customers, and Carquest, which operates 239 stores with a primary focus on professional customers.

The company's product portfolio encompasses replacement parts, maintenance items, accessories, and tools across multiple categories including parts and batteries, accessories and chemicals, and engine maintenance products. Advance Auto Parts carries approximately 23,200 stock keeping units per location, while Carquest stores carry approximately 19,100 SKUs. The company sources merchandise from over 730 vendors and carries major brand names such as Bosch, Castrol, Denso, Gates, Meguiar's, Mobil 1, Moog, Monroe, NGK, and Prestone, alongside owned brands including DieHard, Carquest, Driveworks, and the newly launched ARGOS brand.

Professional sales represented approximately 50 percent of total sales, with the remainder derived from DIY customers served through physical stores and omnichannel platforms. The company's supply chain consists of 19 distribution centers totaling approximately 7.2 million square feet and 33 market hub locations designed to enhance inventory availability and operational efficiency.

As of January 3, 2026, Advance Auto Parts employed approximately 54,007 team members, with 87.4 percent in store-level operations, 8.5 percent in distribution centers, and 4.1 percent in corporate offices. The company was founded in 1929 and has grown through strategic acquisitions, including the 2014 acquisition of General Parts International, which operated under the Carquest and Worldpac trade names. In November 2024, the company completed the sale of its Worldpac business to focus on the Advance blended-box model.
