The Automotive segment represents 11 percent of sales and produces ceramic substrates and filters for emissions control as well as technical glass solutions for vehicles. The Life Sciences segment accounts for 6 percent of sales and develops laboratory products for drug discovery, cell culture, and bioproduction under brands including Corning, Falcon, PYREX, and Axygen. Hemlock and Emerging Growth Businesses comprise the remaining 9 percent, primarily through Hemlock Semiconductor Group, which supplies high-purity polysilicon for solar and electronics markets.
Corning employs approximately 67,200 full- and part-time employees across 44 countries, with roughly 68 percent in production and maintenance roles and over 66 percent represented by unions or works councils. The company manufactures products in 14 countries and maintains significant operations throughout Asia, North America, and Europe. The company owns approximately 11,375 unexpired patents worldwide, with about 4,015 U.S. patents, and maintains a portfolio of well-known trademarks including Gorilla Glass, PYREX, Falcon, and numerous product-specific brands.
