The company operates three reportable segments. Health & Science Technologies (HST) contributes 43 percent of net sales and includes precision fluidics, positive displacement pumps, powder and liquid processing technologies, sealing solutions, pneumatic components, optical systems, and laboratory equipment serving life sciences, pharmaceutical, and industrial markets. Fluid & Metering Technologies (FMT) represents 35 percent of sales and provides positive displacement pumps, flow meters, valves, and fluid-handling systems for energy, water, agriculture, and industrial applications. Fire & Safety/Diversified Products (FSDP) accounts for 22 percent of sales, offering firefighting equipment, rescue tools, stainless steel banding systems, and paint dispensing equipment.

IDEX serves diverse end markets including life sciences, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, medical, energy, water and wastewater, agriculture, food and beverage, and industrial manufacturing. The company maintains a balanced geographic presence with 51 percent of sales from domestic markets and 49 percent from international operations, with significant manufacturing and operations in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, Italy, China, and India.

The company's business model emphasizes organic growth through product innovation and strategic acquisitions, complemented by disciplined capital allocation. IDEX operates with a decentralized structure where individual businesses maintain autonomy while leveraging shared services and corporate expertise. The company manufactures many components internally while sourcing materials from numerous independent suppliers globally, positioning itself to manage supply chain complexity and commodity price fluctuations.
