The business

Core Natural Resources, Inc. (NYSE: CNR) is a world-class producer and exporter of high-quality, low-cost coals, including both metallurgical and thermal varieties. The company operates at www.corenaturalresources.com and plays an essential role in meeting global demand for energy, steel, cement and infrastructure solutions. Core Natural Resources was formed through an all-stock merger of equals completed on January 14, 2025, combining CONSOL Energy Inc. with Arch Resources, Inc., with the combined entity renamed Core Natural Resources and beginning trading under ticker CNR on January 15, 2025.

The company's coal mining operations span multiple U.S. regions, including the Pennsylvania Mining Complex in Pennsylvania, the Leer Complex in West Virginia, Black Thunder and Coal Creek in Wyoming, and West Elk in Colorado. The Pennsylvania Mining Complex controls 529 million tons of recoverable reserves from the Pittsburgh No. 8 seam, sufficient for approximately 20 years of full-capacity production. The Leer Complex includes 170.2 million tons of recoverable reserves supporting more than 30 years of production. Core's thermal operations produce coal for domestic and international power generation markets, while its metallurgical mines produce premium products for the global steel industry.

Core maintains strategically located advanced distribution capabilities anchored by two East Coast marine export terminals. The company wholly owns the Core Marine Terminal in Baltimore, the only major East Coast coal terminal served by both Norfolk Southern and CSX railroads, with approximately 20 million tons annual throughput capacity. Core also holds a 35 percent interest in Dominion Terminal in Newport News, Virginia, with 20 million tons annual throughput capacity. These terminals provide global access to diverse customer bases across metallurgical, industrial and electric power generation end-markets.

The company's business model emphasizes free cash flow generation through low-cost, high-quality longwall mining operations combined with extensive logistics infrastructure. Core maintains a well-established customer base, with approximately 95 percent of 2025 sales to customers in both companies' 2024 portfolios. The company also operates CONSOL Innovations, a subsidiary pursuing alternative coal applications including carbon foam products, aerospace composites and battery anode materials, positioning the company for long-term diversification beyond traditional coal markets.
