The business

LKQ Corporation (NASDAQ: LKQ) operates as a global distributor of vehicle products, including replacement parts, components, and systems used in the repair and maintenance of vehicles, as well as specialty aftermarket products and accessories. The company's website is www.lkqcorp.com.

LKQ serves the vehicle repair and maintenance market through three primary reportable segments: North America, Europe, and Specialty. The North America segment is a leading provider of alternative vehicle collision replacement products, paint and body repair products, and mechanical replacement and maintenance products, with sales, processing, and distribution facilities reaching most major markets in the United States and Canada. The Europe segment operates in approximately twenty countries throughout continental Europe and the United Kingdom, primarily selling aftermarket hard parts and, to a lesser extent, collision products and repair services. The Specialty segment is a leading distributor of specialty vehicle aftermarket products and accessories in the United States and Canada, including recreational vehicle products, truck and off-road equipment, towing products, speed and performance parts, wheels and tires, marine products, and miscellaneous accessories under brands such as TrailFX, Fabtech, Fab Fours, and Warn.

The company employs approximately forty-four thousand people globally, with approximately seventeen thousand based in North America, twenty-five thousand in Europe, and two thousand in Asia. LKQ operates an extensive distribution network featuring warehouses, cross-dock facilities, and branch locations that enable high service levels and industry-leading fulfillment rates across its markets.

LKQ sources products from a diverse supplier base, with aftermarket products sourced primarily from North America and Asia, salvage products acquired through regional auctions and insurance companies, and specialty products sourced mainly from the United States, Canada, and China. The company sells to wholesale customers including collision and mechanical repair shops, new and used car dealerships, and retail customers through e-commerce platforms.

The company's business model focuses on capitalizing on profitable growth opportunities, driving a lean operating model globally, and disciplined capital allocation and portfolio simplification. In September 2025, LKQ completed the sale of its Self Service segment. Additionally, the company commenced a process to explore the potential sale of its Specialty segment as part of its strategy to simplify its portfolio and concentrate on core segments.
