The business

Dycom Industries, Inc. (NYSE: DY) is a leading provider of specialty contracting services focused on digital infrastructure, telecommunications, and utilities throughout the United States. Founded in 1969 and incorporated in Florida, the company operates through 38 subsidiary operating companies serving customers across all 50 states from hundreds of field offices. The company maintains its website at www.dycomind.com.

Dycom operates through two reportable segments: Communications and Building Systems. The Communications segment, which represents the majority of operations, provides a comprehensive portfolio of specialty services including program management, planning, engineering and design, aerial and underground construction, wireless construction, maintenance, and fulfillment services. These services support the deployment, expansion, and maintenance of telecommunications networks for telephone companies, cable operators, and wireless carriers. The segment also offers underground facility locating services for utilities and construction and maintenance services for electric and gas utilities. The Building Systems segment, added following the acquisition of Power Solutions in fiscal 2026, specializes in comprehensive building infrastructure solutions including electrical, energy management, security, and fire safety systems for data centers and other critical facilities.

The company serves a highly concentrated customer base, with AT&T Inc., Verizon Communications Inc., and Lumen Technologies Inc. representing approximately 25.4%, 14.0%, and 10.8% of total contract revenues respectively during fiscal 2026. Dycom employed approximately 19,556 persons as of January 31, 2026, and maintains a decentralized operating structure that combines centralized financial and administrative functions with localized sales, marketing, and field operations.

The company's backlog as of January 31, 2026 totaled $9.542 billion, with $6.358 billion expected to be realized within the next twelve months. This backlog reflects the estimated uncompleted portion of services under master service agreements and other contractual arrangements with customers. Dycom's business strategy focuses on capitalizing on long-term growth drivers in digital infrastructure, selectively increasing market share, pursuing disciplined financial and operating strategies, and executing selective acquisitions that provide operational and financial benefits through revenue diversification and cost synergies.
