The company generates revenues across multiple customer classes, with residential customers representing 37 percent of revenues, commercial customers 33 percent, industrial customers 11 percent, wholesale operations 5 percent, transmission 9 percent, and other sources 5 percent. Retail electricity sales volumes follow a similar distribution, with residential at 37 percent, commercial at 44 percent, and industrial at 19 percent of total volumes.

The company operates approximately 15,800 megawatts of owned generating capacity and renewable power purchase agreements, with fuel sources including coal (37 percent), wind (29 percent), natural gas and oil (27 percent), and uranium (7 percent). Evergy's generation strategy emphasizes an all-of-the-above portfolio approach, balancing dispatchable baseload generation with renewable resources. Since 2005, the company has added over 4,500 megawatts of renewable generation capacity while retiring more than 2,400 megawatts of fossil generation.

As of December 31, 2025, Evergy employed 4,691 people, including 2,479 represented by five local unions of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and one local union of the United Government Security Officers of America. The company's workforce includes 1,882 generation employees, 1,468 transmission and distribution employees, and 1,341 support personnel.

Evergy's core strategy centers on three tenets: affordability through maintaining competitive rates while investing in infrastructure, reliability through top-tier performance in customer service and generation, and sustainability through advancing a diverse generation portfolio. The company is regulated by the State Corporation Commission of Kansas and the Public Service Commission of Missouri for retail rates and service standards, and by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for transmission and wholesale operations.
