The business
Nuvation Bio Inc. (NYSE: NUVB) is a global oncology company focused on developing novel therapies to address challenging cancer treatment needs. The company was founded in 2018 by experienced oncology drug developers and completed a business combination with Panacea Acquisition Corp. in February 2021, becoming a publicly traded company.
The company's primary commercial product is IBTROZI (talectrectinib), an oral, potent, central nervous system-active, selective next-generation ROS1 inhibitor approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in June 2025 for treating adult patients with locally advanced or metastatic ROS1-positive non-small cell lung cancer. IBTROZI has also received regulatory approvals in Japan and China, where it is commercialized by partners Nippon Kayaku and Innovent Biologics respectively. In January 2026, Nuvation Bio entered a partnership with Eisai to commercialize taletrectinib in Europe and other territories outside the U.S., China, and Japan.
Beyond its commercial product, Nuvation Bio's pipeline includes safusidenib, a novel oral inhibitor of mutant isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 currently in Phase 3 development for treating IDH1-mutant astrocytoma. The company is also advancing a proprietary drug-drug conjugate platform designed to selectively deliver anti-cancer warheads to target tissues while improving therapeutic benefit and reducing side effects compared to untargeted approaches.
Nuvation Bio operates without its own manufacturing facilities, relying instead on third-party contract manufacturing organizations and specialty pharmacies for production and distribution. The company maintains a commercial field team in the United States to support IBTROZI's market launch and offers patient support programs to facilitate access and affordability.
The company's business model centers on identifying validated oncology targets, leveraging medicinal chemistry expertise to develop differentiated product candidates, and pursuing strategic partnerships to maximize the value of its pipeline across global markets. Nuvation Bio's competitive advantages include its team's extensive experience in drug development and commercialization, demonstrated through prior successes in bringing oncology drugs to market.
