Krystal Biotech, Inc. (NASDAQ: KRYS) is a fully integrated, global, commercial-stage biotechnology company focused on discovering, developing, manufacturing, and commercializing genetic medicines to treat diseases with high unmet medical needs. The company operates its business through a proprietary gene therapy technology platform based on engineered herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) vectors that efficiently deliver therapeutic transgenes to cells across multiple organ systems. More information about the company can be found at www.krystalbiotech.com.
The company's first commercial product, VYJUVEK (beremagene geperpavec-svdt), is approved in the United States, European Union, and Japan for treating dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB), a rare and severe monogenic skin disease. VYJUVEK represents the first redosable gene therapy approved by the FDA and the first corrective medicine approved in the EU for DEB treatment. The company launched VYJUVEK in the United States in 2023 and has since expanded to major European markets and Japan beginning in 2025. Since commercial launch, the company has reported $730.3 million in net product revenue from VYJUVEK.
Krystal's development pipeline includes multiple clinical-stage product candidates targeting rare and serious diseases across respiratory, ophthalmology, dermatology, and oncology indications. Key pipeline programs include KB407 for cystic fibrosis, KB408 for alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency lung disease, KB803 for ocular complications of DEB, KB801 for neurotrophic keratitis, KB111 for Hailey-Hailey disease, and KB707 for solid tumors. The company also operates Jeune Aesthetics, a wholly-owned subsidiary exploring applications of its platform technology in aesthetic conditions.
The company maintains two in-house, commercial-scale CGMP manufacturing facilities supporting production of VYJUVEK and its pipeline candidates. Krystal possesses exclusive worldwide rights to develop, manufacture, and commercialize VYJUVEK and its pipeline product candidates. The company's HSV-1 platform offers distinct advantages including repeat administration capability, non-integrating nature, high payload capacity exceeding 35 kilobases, high transduction efficiency, direct delivery capability, stability characteristics, and scalable manufacturing processes. In October 2025, the FDA granted platform technology designation to Krystal's engineered HSV-1 vector, recognizing the reproducibility and scalability of the platform.
