Founded in 1993, Charter has evolved from a cable television provider into a converged broadband, WiFi, and mobile services company. The company's core business centers on delivering subscription-based Internet, mobile, video, and voice services to residential and commercial customers. Charter's fiber-powered network architecture combines fiber optic cable with coaxial cable infrastructure, enabling the company to offer Internet speeds up to 1 gigabit per second across its entire footprint with multi-gigabit capabilities in portions of its service area.

The company's residential services include Spectrum Internet with Advanced WiFi, Spectrum Mobile leveraging Verizon's 5G network, video programming through approximately 375 channels, and voice services using VoIP technology. Charter also operates Xumo Stream Boxes, which combine live TV with streaming applications and unified search functionality. Commercial offerings include Spectrum Business services for small businesses and mid-market and large enterprises, providing Internet access, data networking, fiber connectivity, video entertainment, and business telephone services with speeds up to 100 Gbps for enterprise customers.

Charter's advertising division, Spectrum Reach, sells local, regional, and national advertising across cable television networks, streaming services, and advanced advertising platforms. The company also owns and operates over 35 local news channels, including Spectrum News NY1 and Spectrum News SoCal, and maintains ownership interests in regional sports networks including SportsNet LA and SportsNet New York.

As of December 31, 2025, Charter served approximately 31.8 million total customer relationships, comprising 29.6 million residential and 2.2 million small business customers. The company maintains 30.6 million connectivity customers, 29.7 million Internet customers, 11.8 million mobile lines, 12.6 million video customers, and 6.0 million voice customers. Charter continues expanding through its subsidized rural construction initiative, having invested $7.7 billion since 2022 to activate approximately 1.3 million passings in unserved areas.
