Eagle Materials Inc. (NYSE: EXP) is a leading United States manufacturer of heavy construction products and light building materials headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The company's business is organized into two primary sectors. The Heavy Materials sector comprises the Cement and Concrete and Aggregates segments, which provide essential materials for public infrastructure, private nonresidential construction, and residential building projects. Approximately 65 percent of total revenue is generated in ten high-growth states: Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Eagle operates eight modern cement plants with approximately 6.7 million tons of clinker capacity, representing roughly six percent of total United States clinker capacity. The company also operates five gypsum wallboard plants with combined capacity of 3,775 million square feet and maintains aggregates operations with approximately 9,050 thousand tons of annual production capacity. The company generated record revenue of $2.3 billion in fiscal 2026 and employed approximately 2,800 people, including roughly 800 salaried and 2,000 hourly employees.
Founded in 1963 as a subsidiary of Centex Corporation, Eagle operated as a public company under the name Centex Construction Products from 1994 until 2004, when Centex completed a tax-free distribution of its shares and the company was renamed Eagle Materials Inc.
The company's competitive strengths include strategically located plants near raw material reserves and customers in high-growth markets, a decentralized operating structure with network-wide coordination, substantial owned raw material reserves providing at least 25 years of supply certainty, production flexibility across its integrated network, and a low-cost producer position supported by modern production lines and continuous efficiency improvements. Eagle markets its gypsum wallboard products under the American Gypsum brand and operates cement companies serving regional markets throughout the heartland and western United States.
