The company also provides terminal and stevedoring services at facilities in Hawaii and Alaska, and maintains a 35 percent ownership interest in SSA Terminals, LLC, which operates seven terminal facilities on the U.S. West Coast.
Matson Logistics, a wholly-owned subsidiary established in 1987, extends the company's geographic reach throughout North America and Asia. The logistics segment provides transportation brokerage services for intermodal rail, highway and trucking, freight forwarding and less-than-container load consolidation services, warehousing and distribution services, and supply chain management services including purchase order management and non-vessel operating common carrier freight forwarding.
As of December 31, 2025, Matson employed 4,170 employees worldwide, with 2,843 covered by collective bargaining agreements. The company operates in multiple geographic regions including Hawaii, Alaska, Guam, the U.S. West Coast, and Asia. Matson is constructing three new Aloha Class containerships with expected deliveries between 2027 and 2028, representing approximately $1.0 billion in capital investment. The company's vessels are designed to comply with international maritime environmental regulations and feature dual-fuel engines capable of operating on liquefied natural gas, conventional fuels, and alternative fuels.
