The business

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) operates as a global e-commerce and cloud computing company serving consumers, sellers, developers, enterprises, content creators, and advertisers through its website at amazon.com. The company organizes its operations into three reportable segments: North America, International, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The North America and International segments comprise Amazon's retail operations, which offer hundreds of millions of unique products across dozens of categories through online stores, mobile applications, physical retail locations, and digital delivery channels. The company manufactures and sells electronic devices including Kindle, Fire tablets, Fire TV, Echo, Ring, Blink, and eero products. Amazon also develops and produces media content and operates subscription services such as Amazon Prime, which provides members with fast shipping, streaming entertainment, live sports, and additional benefits. The retail segments generate revenue through direct product sales, third-party seller services where Amazon earns fees and commissions, and advertising programs.

AWS provides on-demand technology services to developers, enterprises, startups, government agencies, and academic institutions. The division offers compute, storage, database, analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning services, and other cloud infrastructure solutions.

As of December 31, 2025, Amazon employed approximately 1.576 million full-time and part-time employees globally, supplemented by independent contractors and temporary personnel. The company operates fulfillment networks across North America and International regions, along with customer service centers worldwide and extensive data center infrastructure supporting AWS operations.

Amazon's business model centers on customer obsession, operational excellence, invention, and long-term thinking. The company competes across multiple industries including physical and e-commerce retail, cloud services, digital content, advertising, electronic devices, and logistics. Amazon faces competition from retailers, technology companies, content providers, and specialized service providers, with competitive advantages derived from its scale, fulfillment infrastructure, technology capabilities, brand recognition, and integrated ecosystem of products and services.

The 10 largest by fund-held value, of 53.

Fund ownership counts N-PORT filers only, so it is a floor rather than a census — pensions, insurers and direct holders are not visible here, and the remainder is not “held by individuals”.

Fund ownership is a subset of institutional 13F ownership — the two describe overlapping populations and must not be added together.
