The business

Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE: BSX) is a global developer, manufacturer and marketer of medical devices serving interventional medical specialties worldwide. The company operates through two reportable segments: MedSurg and Cardiovascular. Founded more than 45 years ago, Boston Scientific has established itself as a leader in advancing less-invasive medicine by enabling physicians to diagnose and treat a broad range of diseases and medical conditions while improving patient quality of life. The company's website is www.bostonscientific.com.

The MedSurg segment encompasses Endoscopy, Urology, and Neuromodulation business units. The Endoscopy unit develops minimally invasive devices for gastrointestinal and pancreaticobiliary procedures, including hemostatic clips, stent systems, single-use scopes and endoluminal surgery products. The Urology unit manufactures devices for kidney stones, benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate cancer, erectile dysfunction and incontinence. The Neuromodulation unit produces devices for treating neurological movement disorders and chronic pain management.

The Cardiovascular segment includes Interventional Cardiology and Vascular Therapies, Watchman left atrial appendage closure devices, Electrophysiology, Cardiac Rhythm Management, and Interventional Oncology and Embolization. Key product lines include intravascular imaging systems, vessel preparation technologies, drug-eluting stents, thrombectomy systems, ablation systems and implantable cardiac devices. In January 2026, Boston Scientific announced a definitive agreement to acquire Penumbra, Inc., a publicly traded medical technology company focused on thrombectomy products, for approximately $14.5 billion.

As of December 31, 2025, Boston Scientific employed approximately 59,000 people, with roughly 60 percent located outside the United States. The company markets its products and solutions to hospitals, clinics, outpatient facilities and medical offices across 127 countries worldwide. Boston Scientific competes primarily on differentiated clinical and economic outcomes, ease of use, comparative effectiveness, reliability and physician familiarity. The company maintains dedicated sales forces and marketing teams focused on specialized physicians and hospital administrators. Research and development investments support internal programs, regulatory design, clinical science and strategic acquisitions to drive future growth and innovation across its diverse product portfolio.

Fund ownership counts N-PORT filers only, so it is a floor rather than a census — pensions, insurers and direct holders are not visible here, and the remainder is not “held by individuals”.

Fund ownership is a subset of institutional 13F ownership — the two describe overlapping populations and must not be added together.
