(NYSE: CAT) operates as the world's leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives. The company maintains its corporate presence at www.Caterpillar.com and serves customers across 190 countries through one of the largest independent global dealer networks, complemented by financing services through Cat Financial.

The company generated $67.589 billion in sales and revenues during 2025 and operates through five segments, four of which are reportable. The Construction Industries segment supports customers in infrastructure and building construction, offering machines such as track-type tractors, excavators, wheel loaders, and motor graders. The Resource Industries segment serves mining and quarry operations with equipment for surface and underground extraction, including electric rope shovels, draglines, and large mining trucks, alongside fleet management and autonomous machine capabilities. The Power & Energy segment provides reciprocating engines, generator sets, turbines, electrified powertrains, and diesel-electric locomotives for oil and gas, power generation, marine, rail, and industrial applications. The Financial Products segment, primarily conducted through Cat Financial and Insurance Services subsidiaries, offers retail and wholesale financing, leases, and insurance products to customers and dealers worldwide.

Caterpillar employs approximately 118,000 full-time persons globally, with 51,600 located in the United States and 66,400 outside the U.S. The company distributes products through 41 dealers in the United States and 109 dealers outside the U.S., supplemented by additional distributor networks for engines and power generation systems. The company maintains significant manufacturing and operational capabilities across North America, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific regions.

The company's competitive advantages include its extensive dealer network, integrated component design and manufacturing capabilities, advanced technology development, and comprehensive financing solutions. Caterpillar owns numerous patents and trademarks developed over decades and maintains strategic sourcing relationships with global suppliers. The order backlog reached $51.2 billion at year-end 2025, reflecting strong customer demand across all primary segments.
