The business

CVR Energy, Inc. (NYSE: CVI) is a diversified holding company engaged in petroleum refining and marketing, renewable fuels production, and nitrogen fertilizer manufacturing. The company operates through three reportable segments: Petroleum, Renewables, and Nitrogen Fertilizer.

The Petroleum Segment operates two refineries with combined crude oil processing capacity of approximately 206,500 barrels per day. The Coffeyville Refinery in Kansas processes 132,000 barrels per day of medium-sour crude oil, while the Wynnewood Refinery in Oklahoma processes 74,500 barrels per day. Both facilities are complex refineries capable of processing various crude oil grades and producing gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and distillates. The segment benefits from an extensive gathering system comprising owned and leased pipelines totaling over 1,000 miles and joint venture interests that supply approximately 67 to 94 percent of the refineries' crude oil demand, providing a transportation cost advantage in the mid-continent region.

The Renewables Segment previously operated a renewable diesel unit at the Wynnewood Refinery capable of producing approximately 80 million gallons annually from renewable feedstocks including soybean oil and corn oil. In December 2025, the company reverted this unit back to hydrocarbon processing service due to unfavorable economics.

The Nitrogen Fertilizer Segment, operated through CVR Partners, LP, a publicly traded limited partnership, includes two manufacturing facilities producing ammonia and urea ammonium nitrate fertilizer products. The Coffeyville facility uniquely utilizes petroleum coke gasification to produce hydrogen, while the East Dubuque facility uses natural gas. Combined capacity totals approximately 2,375 tons per day of ammonia and UAN production.

The company's website is www.CVREnergy.com. As of December 31, 2025, Icahn Enterprises L.P. and affiliates owned approximately 70 percent of CVR Energy's outstanding common stock, while CVR Energy owned the general partner and approximately 37 percent of CVR Partners' common units. The company experiences seasonal demand fluctuations across all segments, with petroleum products peaking in summer months and fertilizer demand concentrated during spring planting season.
