Oklo Inc. (NASDAQ: OKLO) is an advanced nuclear energy company developing next-generation fast fission power plants called Aurora powerhouses and commercializing nuclear fuel recycling technology. The company's website is www.oklo.com.
Founded in 2013, Oklo builds on proven technology demonstrated by the Experimental Breeder Reactor-II, which operated for 30 years under U.S. government operation. The company's primary business model involves designing, building, owning, and operating Aurora powerhouses to generate and sell electricity and heat directly to customers through power purchase agreements, rather than licensing reactor designs as traditional nuclear developers do. This differentiated approach allows Oklo to capture operational profitability and enables project financing structures while focusing on the full lifecycle economics of safe, cost-effective power generation.
Aurora powerhouses are designed to produce 15 to 75 megawatts electric, with potential expansion to 100 megawatts and higher. The reactors can operate on fresh, recycled, or down-blended nuclear fuel and are engineered to tap into the vast energy reserves in existing used nuclear fuel, which retains approximately 95 percent of its energy content. The U.S. has generated over 90,000 metric tons of used nuclear fuel since 1950, representing an estimated energy equivalent of approximately 1.2 trillion barrels of oil.
Beyond powerhouse development, Oklo is advancing nuclear fuel recycling and fuel fabrication capabilities to vertically integrate its fuel supply chain. The company acquired Atomic Alchemy Inc. in February 2025, combining expertise in powerhouse operations and fuel recycling with radioisotope production capabilities for medical, energy, industrial, defense, and artificial intelligence applications.
As of December 31, 2025, Oklo employed 205 full-time employees across 33 U.S. states and Canada, including 13 Ph.D.s and 50 master's degrees in engineering or science, plus eight former NRC staff members. The company has achieved significant regulatory milestones including securing a site use permit at Idaho National Laboratory and receiving a fuel award of five metric tons of high-assay low-enriched uranium for its first commercial Aurora powerhouse. Oklo targets deploying its first powerhouse in 2028 and has signed preliminary agreements with customers including Meta Platforms, Equinix, and Switch.
