The business

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. (NASDAQ: ODFL) operates as one of the largest less-than-truckload motor carriers in North America, providing regional, inter-regional, and national LTL transportation services through a single integrated, union-free organization. The company's website is located at odfl.com.

The company generates more than 98 percent of its revenue from transporting LTL shipments, where multiple shipments from different customers are consolidated on single trucks and routed through a network of service centers before final delivery. Beyond core LTL services, Old Dominion offers value-added services including container drayage, truckload brokerage, and supply chain consulting. As of December 31, 2025, the company operated 260 service centers throughout the continental United States, of which it owned 240 and leased 20.

Old Dominion maintains a fleet of 10,184 tractors with an average age of 3.9 years, along with 30,824 linehaul trailers and 14,313 pickup and delivery trailers. The company operates 48 fleet maintenance centers at strategic locations throughout its network. The company employed 20,591 active full-time employees as of December 31, 2025, including 10,320 drivers, 3,465 platform workers, 666 fleet technicians, and 6,140 sales, administrative, and other personnel. None of the company's employees are represented under collective bargaining agreements.

The company's customer base is highly diversified, with the largest customer accounting for approximately four percent of revenue and the largest five, ten, and twenty customers representing approximately eleven, sixteen, and twenty-three percent of revenue, respectively. More than 95 percent of revenue is derived from services performed within the United States.

Founded in 1934 and incorporated in Virginia in 1950, Old Dominion has grown primarily through organic market share growth and strategic network expansion. The company's integrated operating structure, proprietary information systems, and technological capabilities enable efficient cost management and superior customer service delivery. The company's business model depends on maintaining adequate service center capacity, managing a modern fleet, and retaining qualified employees within its distinctive organizational culture.

Fund ownership counts N-PORT filers only, so it is a floor rather than a census — pensions, insurers and direct holders are not visible here, and the remainder is not “held by individuals”.

Fund ownership is a subset of institutional 13F ownership — the two describe overlapping populations and must not be added together.
