What AdvanSix Inc. does
In the company’s own words
AdvanSix Inc. (NASDAQ: ADVS) is an integrated chemistry company that produces essential materials for diverse end markets through five U.S.-based manufacturing facilities. The company operates as a single reportable segment and serves approximately 375 customers annually, primarily in the United States, with global capabilities spanning building and construction, fertilizers, agrochemicals, plastics, solvents, packaging, paints, coatings, adhesives, electronics and other industries.
The company's vertically integrated value chain begins with cumene production at its Frankford, Pennsylvania facility, where phenol, acetone and alpha-methylstyrene are manufactured. These intermediates flow to the Hopewell, Virginia facility, which operates as one of the world's largest single-site producers of both caprolactam and ammonium sulfate. Caprolactam is polymerized into Aegis® brand Nylon 6 resin at the Chesterfield, Virginia facility, while amines are produced at facilities in Bucks, Alabama and Portsmouth, Virginia.
AdvanSix's three primary product lines generated the following revenue mix in 2025: Plant Nutrients at 37 percent, Chemical Intermediates at 25 percent, Nylon at 20 percent, and Caprolactam at 18 percent. Plant Nutrients products, primarily ammonium sulfate fertilizer sold under the Sulf-N® brand, leverage the company's integrated operations to produce approximately four pounds of fertilizer for every pound of caprolactam. Chemical Intermediates include acetone, phenol, cyclohexanone and specialty amines sold under brands including Nadone® and EZ-Blox®. The company generated total sales of $1.522 billion in 2025 with approximately 1,410 employees, of which roughly 720 are covered under collective bargaining agreements.
AdvanSix was spun off from Honeywell International Inc. on October 1, 2016. The company's competitive advantages derive from its low-cost position driven by vertical integration, large scale, favorable U.S. geographic location providing access to low-cost natural gas, high plant utilization rates, diverse revenue sources, technical expertise and long-standing customer relationships. The company maintains a disciplined capital deployment framework balancing long-term investments in operational excellence with shareholder returns through dividends and share repurchases.
