What Alight, Inc. / Delaware does
In the company’s own words
Alight, Inc. (NYSE: ALIT) operates as a technology-enabled services company delivering human capital management solutions to many of the world's largest and most complex organizations. The company's website is www.alight.com.
Alight specializes in the implementation and administration of employee benefits solutions, including health, wealth, and leave management services. The company operates under a single reportable segment called Employer Solutions, which is driven by its Alight Worklife platform, a cloud-based employee engagement solution designed to provide integrated benefits administration, healthcare navigation, financial wellbeing, leave of absence management, and retiree healthcare services. Through this platform, the company delivers personalized employee experiences while helping employers understand trends and risks to generate better outcomes such as improved productivity and retention.
The company generates substantially all of its highly recurring revenue from fees for services provided through contracts across its solutions, primarily based on a contracted fee charged per participant per period. Contracts typically have three to five-year terms with mutual renewal options. Alight's technology strategy comprises four layers: an omnichannel customer experience layer, an artificial intelligence and analytics layer, a core transaction layer, and an infrastructure layer, all reinforced with security frameworks. The company's solutions are supported through secure cloud infrastructure integrated with over 350 external platforms and partners.
As of December 31, 2025, Alight employed more than 9,500 colleagues, with approximately 80 percent located in North America. The company serves a broad range of clients including Fortune 500 companies, public institutions, and mid-market businesses across diverse market sectors.
A significant milestone in the company's recent history was the completion on July 12, 2024, of the divestiture of its Professional Services segment and Payroll & HCM Outsourcing business. This transaction represented a pivotal stage in Alight's transformation as a focused technology-enabled services company with renewed emphasis on employee wellbeing and benefits. The company received approximately one billion dollars in cash at closing, along with additional contingent consideration tied to the divested business's financial performance.
