In the company’s own words

AMCON Distributing Company (NYSE American: DIT) operates as a wholesale distributor and specialty retailer serving customers across 34 states. The company maintains its corporate presence at www.amcon.com and operates through two distinct business segments that generate complementary revenue streams.

The Wholesale Segment, comprising Team Sledd and Henry's Foods subsidiaries, represents the company's primary revenue driver. This division distributes over 20,000 consumer products to approximately 8,500 retail outlets including convenience stores, grocery stores, liquor stores, drug stores, and tobacco shops. Cigarettes and tobacco products constitute approximately 61 percent of consolidated revenues, while candy, beverages, foodservice, groceries, health food products, paper products, and health and beauty care items comprise the remaining 39 percent. The wholesale operation maintains 14 distribution centers across Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, and West Virginia, encompassing approximately 1.7 million square feet of permanent floor space. As the third-largest convenience store distributor by geographic territory served, the segment benefits from relationships with major suppliers including Altria, RJ Reynolds, Hershey, Kellanov, Kraft Heinz, Mars Wrigley, and Procter and Gamble.

The Retail Segment operates 15 health food stores under the Chamberlin's Natural Foods, Akin's Natural Foods, and Earth Origins Market banners through the Healthy Edge Retail Group subsidiary. These specialty retailers carry over 32,000 products including natural, organic, and specialty foods, produce, frozen items, nutritional supplements, and personal care merchandise, serving customers throughout the Midwest and Florida.

The company employed 1,521 individuals as of September 2025, distributed across managerial, administrative, delivery, sales and marketing, and warehouse functions. Approximately 30 wholesale delivery employees at the Quincy, Illinois distribution center maintain union representation through the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, with labor agreements extending through November 2026. The company's business model emphasizes flexible distribution capabilities, customer service programs, broad product selection, and competitive pricing advantages derived from scale economies and geographic reach.
