The company maintains its corporate website at www.ashland.com and employs approximately 2,900 people worldwide across manufacturing, research, and distribution facilities.
The company operates through four primary reportable segments: Life Sciences, Personal Care, Specialty Additives, and Intermediates. Life Sciences, representing 39 percent of total consolidated sales, supplies excipients and tablet coating systems to pharmaceutical and nutrition industries, with core products including cellulosics and vinyl pyrrolidone polymers used in oral solid dosage formulations and functional food applications. Personal Care, also representing a significant portion of revenues, develops biofunctionals, preservatives, and specialty polymers for skin care, hair care, oral care, and household cleaning applications. Specialty Additives, the largest segment at 62 percent of sales within that division, provides rheology modifiers and performance-enhancing additives for architectural coatings, construction, energy, and automotive markets. Intermediates manufactures 1,4 butanediol and related derivatives used as chemical intermediates and specialty solvents across multiple industries.
Ashland's product portfolio includes cellulosics and polyvinylpyrrolidones, which collectively represent 25 percent of total consolidated sales. The company maintains eleven manufacturing and laboratory facilities across Life Sciences operations in nine countries, nine facilities for Personal Care in ten countries, and eight facilities for Specialty Additives across eight countries. Intermediates operates a primary manufacturing facility in Lima, Ohio, with derivative production at additional locations.
