The company operates through two primary reportable segments: Credit as a Service (CaaS) and Auto Finance. The CaaS segment represents the larger portion of operations and applies technology solutions developed over more than thirty years of operating history to support lenders in offering inclusive financial services. This segment manages private label credit cards under the Fortiva and Curae brand names, general purpose credit cards under the Aspire, Imagine, Mercury, and Fortiva brands, and provides loan servicing and risk management outsourcing for third parties. The company also engages in limited investments in consumer technology platforms. The Auto Finance segment, operated through its CAR subsidiary, purchases and services loans secured by automobiles from independent automotive dealers in the buy-here, pay-here used car business, serving over seven hundred dealers across thirty-three states and two U.S. territories.
Atlanticus functions primarily as a program manager, providing technology platforms and services to bank partners who originate credit products. The company acquires receivables from these bank partners and compensates them monthly for regulatory oversight and account servicing. The company has serviced approximately fifty billion dollars in consumer loans throughout its operating history. In September 2025, Atlanticus completed the acquisition of Mercury Financial LLC, a leading data-centric credit card platform, adding approximately 3.2 billion dollars in gross credit card receivables and 1.3 million customers to its operations.
