What AZZ INC does
In the company’s own words
AZZ Inc. (NYSE: AZZ) operates as North America's leading independent provider of hot-dip galvanizing and coil coating solutions, serving a broad range of end markets through three distinct operating segments. The company was established in 1956 and maintains its corporate presence at www.azz.com.
The AZZ Metal Coatings segment provides hot-dip galvanizing, spin galvanizing, powder coating, anodizing, and plating services to the steel fabrication industry and other sectors. This segment operates 42 galvanizing plants and four surface technologies plants throughout the United States and Canada. Hot-dip galvanizing is a metallurgical process in which molten zinc reacts with steel to provide corrosion protection and extend the lifecycle of fabricated steel for several decades. The segment primarily serves fabricators and manufacturers that provide solutions to transmission and distribution, bridge and highway, petrochemical, and general industrial markets.
The AZZ Precoat Metals segment provides coil coating applications of protective and decorative coatings and related value-added downstream processing for steel and aluminum coils. Operating 14 coil coating plants in the United States, this segment primarily serves the construction, appliance, HVAC, container, transportation, and other end markets. The coil coating process emphasizes sustainability and enhanced product lifecycles through cleaning, treating, painting, and curing metal coils before they are cut, formed, and fabricated into finished products.
The AZZ Infrastructure Solutions segment represents the company's 40 percent non-controlling interest in AVAIL Infrastructure Solutions, which focuses on delivering safe and reliable transmission of power and providing automated weld overlay solutions for corrosion and erosion mitigation to critical infrastructure markets worldwide.
As of February 28, 2026, AZZ employed approximately 3,767 people worldwide, with 3,422 in the United States and 345 in Canada. The workforce consists of approximately 83 percent hourly employees and 17 percent salaried employees, with 558 employees covered by collective bargaining agreements. The company does not depend on any single customer for a significant portion of sales. Key raw materials include zinc for the galvanizing process and natural gas and paint for the coil coating operations.
