The company operates through an integrated platform designed to provide flexibility in price discovery, trade execution, and transaction processing for both over-the-counter and exchange-traded transactions.
The company's core business encompasses brokerage services across fixed income securities including government and corporate bonds, interest rate derivatives, credit derivatives, foreign exchange, equities, and futures and options. BGC operates through multiple execution channels including Voice-only broking, Hybrid execution combining voice and electronic elements, and Fully Electronic trading. The company's Fenics division represents its higher-margin technology-driven business, offering electronic brokerage products, market data services, network and connectivity solutions, and post-trade services.
BGC maintains a significant presence in U.S. interest rate futures through FMX, a joint venture with leading global investment banks and market-making firms that operates a U.S. Treasury futures exchange and cash U.S. Treasuries platform. As of December 31, 2025, the company employed 2,510 brokers, salespeople, managers, and other front-office personnel across its global operations.

Following the 2008 merger of Cantor's inter-dealer businesses with eSpeed, the combined entity adopted the BGC Partners name. The company completed a Corporate Conversion on July 1, 2023, transitioning from an Umbrella Partnership C-Corporation structure to a Full C-Corporation, with BGC Group becoming the public holding company.
